Vidyalaya has taken many green initiatives to make Vidyalaya clean and green. Under best practices, all the students and staff members adhere to Zero Plastic use.
To reduce the carbon footprints of the Vidyalaya, use of Hand Made banners is promoted instead of using flex banners.
Vidyalaya has also taken praiseworthy initiative to distribute fruits instead of chocolates or any such product which is wrapped in plastic on student birthdays. This not only reduces the plastic waste generated by Vidyalaya but also instils a healthy habit of having fruits instead of sugary products. The winners of all extra-curricular activities are given jute bags, jute pouches, jute folders, steel bottles and many other ecofriendly items as prizes.
Vidyalaya segregate waste at ground level and we have different colour coded dustbins for different categories of waste. Vidyalaya has been participating in Green School Audit conducted by Green Schools Programme from last five years. It has been awarded Green Vidyalaya certificate for last three years consecutively. It has been also awarded Energy manager by the GSP for 2023. Vidyalaya has also won a prize money of Rs1.5 lakh from IGBC for taking green initiatives in the Vidyalaya. This has been used to develop an herbal garden and a vermicompost pit in the Vidyalaya premises to create sensitivity and awareness among students to promote environment friendly practices for sustainable future.
